Today there are more than 2 billion people around the world that do not have access to proper sanitation which includes safe water, good sewage systems, and clean environments; this leads to an increase in open defecation rates and consequently the devastating contamination of crops and water sources. The UN's Sustainable Development Goal 6 also identifies the need for the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all. By providing the better option of a squatting toilet system with enhanced safety features and clean water to wash hands, the need to openly defecate is removed.
