The scope of the project 'Solar Direct Drive Cold Storage System for Off-Grid Preservation of Fish and Perishable goods' includes strategic research and implementation of an off-grid fish preservation and cold storage system used in locations with unreliable/no access to electricity. The project intends to harness the power of solar renewable energy and convert it to ice banks which would keep the storage system cool during night time and cloudy days without the use of any external batteries. This will not only make the overall design lightweight but also help to drive down its price and make it more affordable to the masses. The exclusion of batteries will also reduce servicing costs and overall it will also help reduce the appliance's carbon footprint and achieve the SDG Goal:07. This project also hopes to achieve the Goal: 08 of the SDG 2030 Agenda by providing a pathway toward economic growth in off-grid fishing communities in rural Bangladesh alongside creating new avenues for marginalised areas to flourish through steady economic output.
